New to His Healing Hands
Previous His Healing Hands Team Members:
I have been an RN for 35 years; been a Christian for 60 years. I’m married to my best friend Deni and together we have 6 kids, 11 grandkids, and 4 great grandchildren with 2 more, twins, on the way. I’m the son of a country Baptist preacher from the hills of Kentucky.
In 2009 I went to Uganda on my 1st Medical Mission trip. I was hooked! Got a call to go to Haiti in January 2010 and was asked to lead. I was scared to death, but with God at my back, we had a very successful trip. I have returned to Haiti 7 times since then.
This will be my 4th trip to South Asia, and I look forward to working with our local host and his family again. He and his son have been guests in my home on a couple of occasions. I love this man and his family. God has blessed us with a brotherly relationship.
Our team members usually come from different parts of the country. For this reason, we will have at least one ZOOM video conference meeting prior to departure.
At the request of our local host, the South Asia team is limited to a total of 14 people. Places on the team are confirmed once we receive and approve the team application, receive the required background check, and receive a deposit of $500. Once the team is filled, we will begin a waiting list. People from the waiting list will be added to the team in the event a confirmed team member is unable to go on the trip.
We will have a team meeting after we arrive as this will be the first time all team members will be together. Sunday we will meet with our local host and meet those who will be working with us as interpreters, patient registration volunteers, and helpers.
We will be conducting out-patient medical clinics mostly in rural and urban village locations.
Monday through Friday we will do the medical clinics. There will also be opportunities for sightseeing. Getting to the clinic locations usually takes less than 1 hour by bus or car. The clinics are done in church buildings.
The team will begin its homeward journey on Saturday.
