New to His Healing Hands
Previous His Healing Hands Team Members:
Cheryl has served as a short-term missionary since 1999; traveling with several organizations including His Healing Hands. She has served as a team leader for His Healing Hands for trips to Ethiopia, India, & Peru.
After retiring from a 40-year banking career, Cheryl fulfilled a long-held dream of working full-time in ministry by coming to work for His Healing Hands as Project Manager.
She has a deep desire to help short-term missionaries have a life-changing experience as they join the Lord in His life-saving work around the world.
Our team members usually come from different parts of the country. For this reason, we will have at least one ZOOM video conference meeting prior to departure.
We have decided to offer one more mission trip to Tarapoto, Peru, which is scheduled for August 2022. Tarapoto is a medium sized city located northeast of Lima; reachable by a 45-minute flight from Lima.
We will be conducting out-patient medical clinics mostly in inner-city locations helping our local host to plant churches. In addition to the medical team, a pastor will also join this team to help facilitate evangelistic events around the city. These will include daytime events targeted to groups such as police, military, educators, government officials, and students. An evening all-age festival will cap off the week of ministry.
After we arrive in Tarapoto on Saturday, we will have our first team meeting as this will be the first time all team members will be together face-to-face.
Sunday we will attend church with our host and meet those from the church who will be working with us as interpreters and patient registration volunteers and counselors.
Monday through Friday we will do the medical clinics and evangelistic events. Getting to the clinic locations usually takes less than 1 hour by bus or car. The clinics are done in church buildings or schools but can sometimes be done outdoors if no facilities are available. There will also be opportunities for sightseeing in the evenings.
The team will begin its homeward journey on Saturday.
