Peru Project 2009 October 10 - October 18, 2009 Estimated Total Cost: $1,800   Airfare from U.S.: $800   In-Country Expenses: $1,000 This is our fifth ministry project in Peru. We will be working in the Ancash Region of the Andes at elevations over 10,000 feet and working alongside local church “El Divino Redeemer” and a local Jesus Film Project. The primary objective of the project will be to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ, along with healing through medical care, to the people of Huaraz in this region. Using local translators who speak the native Quecha dialect. part of the team will register patients and record simple patient histories on patient routing slips for later diagnosis by a team medical staff member. Evangelism by U.S. team members is encouraged for those willing to witness or  when requested by patients. Other members of the team will work with local translators in triage where blood pressure, pulse, glucose test results and other vital signs will be recorded along with further patient history. A third group of the team will work in the exam rooms with local translators where the MDs will make their diagnosis and record the recommended medical prophylaxis for the patient. The final group will work in the pharmacy with local translators where the prescribed medicines will be prepared and packaged along with instructions to the patients for when and how to take their prescriptions. Jennifer - Our Team Leader Esther - Our Peruvian Host Care Providers Needed: MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs, Dentists, Pharmacists, and other healthcare related personnel. In addition medical students and non-medical personnel with a heart for the people of Peru are needed as support members of the team. Independent Donors Needed: To contribute to help offset our cost of $2,500 to supply medical supplies for this project. Logistics  We will converge at  Los Angels Airport it and fly as a team to Lima, Peru where we will board local transportation and drive north to Huaraz. Double occupancy lodging will be arranged by our host staff along with local transportation to the clinic sites. Meals will be provided along with safe drinking water. All participants are encouraged to solicit support from friends, family members, and congregations. This is an ideal way for those who have a heart for your ministry to participate along with prayer.
