Peru October 2008

This year we will return for 10 days to Huaraz, Peru to work alongside local church “El Divino Redeemer” and a local Jesus Film Project. The primary objective of the project will be to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ, along with healing through medical care, to the people of Huaraz.
Using local translators part of the team will register patients and record simple patient histories on patient routing slips for later diagnosis by a team medical staff member. Evangelism by U.S. team members is encouraged for those willing to witness or whe n requested by patients. Other members of the team will work with local translators in triage where blood pressure, pulse, glucose test results and other vital signs will be recorded along with further patient history. A third group of the team will work in the exam rooms with local translators where the MDs will make their diagnosis and record the recommended medical prophylaxis for the patient. The final group will work in the pharmacy with local translators where the prescribed medicines will be prepared and packaged along with instructions to the patients for when and how to take their prescriptions.
